How Belgium-Based BARCO Graphics Penetrated the
North American Printing and Publishing Industries

The Results
Within six months of launching the PostScript campaign, BARCO sales increased over 60%. Within twelve months, sales increased an additional 40%. Concept Company was asked to reduce the marketing efforts because BARCO could not hire and train service staff and trainers fast enough to meet the escalating demand. Within two years, BARCO Graphics was considered the premium design and prepress software in the commercial printing and publishing industries. Within three years, BARCO had successfully eroded the North American dominance of their rival Scitex.

In 2002, Barco Graphics merged with Purup Eskofot and became Esko-Graphics (later shortened to Esko). In 2007 Esko merged with Artwork Systems, their major competitor. It is now known as Esko Artwork and continues to be a dominate player in the commercial printing and publishing industries.
