Last week we looked at Whos Talkin as a way to listen to what's being said about your company or topics of interest. This week, we're going to look at Socialmention.com.
Socialmention lets you track what people are saying by monitoring over 100 social media properties. After searching for a topic, you receive a list with links to where that topic was mentioned. You also get a quick view into the strength, sentiment, passion, and reach of your subject.
Strength indicates the likelihood that a subject is being discussed in the social media realm. Sentiment compares the number of positive mentions to the number of negative mentions. Passion measures the likelihood that a subject will be talked about repeatedly. And reach measures the number of unique authors talking about a subject.
SocialMention also has email alerts. Like Google Alerts, you can specify topics of interest and receive an email when those topics are mentioned in one of the properties monitored by Socialmention. To use the alert feature, click on the "Create an alert" button at socialmention.com and fill in the simple form.
