Strategically Listen - Part 1
Beginning this week, we're going to answer the question "how do you know what to listen to in the midst of the concurrent conversations taking place in social media?" As with any other component of your marketing strategy, you must address this from the perspective of your customers.
If you've never done so before, identify and document the attributes of your best customers. Answer questions such as:
What SIC codes do they fall within?
What is their average annual revenue?
Do they fall within a certain geographic region?
How long have they been in business?
What are their purchasing patterns?
Who within the company ultimately makes the decision to buy from you?
Armed with such information, you will be better poised to find like-minded people in the social media realm. The key is to listen to the conversations of the people who are most like your best customers.
