Strategically Listen - Part 2

Last week, we addressed how to identify attributes of your best customers. Now that you know what your best customers look like, you can search the social media realm for people who look like them. Once you find them, listen to what they are saying.

This is really not all that different from using focus groups and other types of market research—only now, you can search for and gather the information online. So what topics should you listen for?

As with any type of marketing research, try to answer questions such as:

What are the biggest challenges facing your customers?

Have these challenges changed over the last few years? If so, how?

What information do they look for as they move through the buying process?

What ultimately triggers customers to purchase your products or services?

What sways them to purchase from one company over another?

This week and last, we've covered "who" and "what" to listen for. Next week, we're going to address "how" to use LinkedIn to gather information.
