Use LinkedIn Groups for Market Research
Last time, we talked about how to use LinkedIn "Answers" to conduct market research. This week, we're going to take a look at how to continue market research but with LinkedIn "Groups."
For starters , you must join a group before you can see what they're talking about. Once you belong to a group, the discussion feature lets you start a conversation or ask a question that you'd like fellow group members to answer. Once you're part of a group, you can also read current discussions and news posts to see what topics are hot.
If you're going to use groups for market research, choose your groups wisely. If you want to know what certain types of customers think, join groups with like-minded people. If you want to know about trends within an industry, find groups whose purpose is to educate others about the industry. Remember, before you join a group, you'll have the opportunity to review the group profile. If you find that you've joined a group and it's not what you expected, don't sweat it, simply drop out of the group and find another.

Side note: As you use LinkedIn, you may notice that many people do not complete their profiles. This is a common mistake. Keep in mind that a LinkedIn profile is searchable, so you should use all of the fields to their full potential.
